An employee in this position provides GIS and CAD services to support operation of the County's Geographic Information System (GIS). The employee also provides GIS services to other County departments, the public, and to local jurisdictions. The employee evaluates the need for services and data, and develops work plans, and work products to fulfill requests. The work may include routine to moderately complex geoprocessing and analysis, geodatabase development, data maintenance, map compilation, and development and maintenance of CAD drawings. The work will require interaction with County staff, local agency staff, and the public. A professional and customer service oriented work demeanor is required. Work is performed with minimal supervision and the employee has relative independence and latitude for exercising independent judgment and initiative within established policies, guidelines, and accepted practices. Work is reviewed periodically by the supervisor for accuracy of professional judgment and compliance with established goals, policies and accepted practices for overall accuracy, and evaluated through conferences, reports and results obtained. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in geography, environmental management, computer science or closely related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education, plus two years of related experience which includes using ESRI GIS software, Intergraph GIS software and/or Autodesk CAD software is required; or any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work. Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License and the appropriate amount of automobile insurance. A criminal background check through law enforcement agencies, fingerprinting, and reference checks through previous employers will be conducted on all applicants prior to being appointed to this position. NOTE: This position includes benefits and is currently budgeted for one year under a limited-term pilot program.
