Performs statewide planning, assessment and analysis for the Division’s state-owned lands. Assesses management and administrative activities and planning procedures, and looks for opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve management procedures and practices on state-owned forest lands. Performs strategic and operational assessment and planning on current projects. Maintains spatial and tabular databases, including but not limited to inventory databases, management unit spatial databases, and management activity databases. Applies current and developing GIS technologies to spatial and tabular databases to improve efficiency and accessibility of data. Manages the utilization and integration of electronic technologies into the daily activities of Division field staff. Coordinates Division technology use and compatibility within the Department through formal and informal channels. Coordinates the use of mobile data recorders, hand-held computers, GIS, and GPS units in forest inventory management and other forest management activities. Provides relevant technical training for Division staff. Coordinates use of remote sensing in Division activities, and researches and recommends new sources and applications of these technologies. Performs Forestry Division private lands program planning, assessment and analysis support. Works with Division staff to assess programs and provides analytical support leading to improved program delivery including analytical support for Forest Legacy Program, Forest Resource Assessment and Action Plan (FRAAP), Private Land Stewardship Impact Initiatives, Forest Service grants and development, implementation, and maintenance of Private Lands Tracking systems. Provides Division fire program planning and analysis support, and maintains spatial database of fire department locations. Works with Division staff to monitor and analyze trends in fire activity and program effectiveness. Services mapping and analysis requests made by Division field staff.
